Violet Woundy
Violet Woundy is a director, stage manager, gamer, and cat mom. As a director/producer, her credits include Mommy (SheNYC/Classic Stage Company), The Girl From Nothing (The Chain), Given Circumstances (Hybrid Livestream/Twenty Sided), Mommy (Reading) (The Tank), You’re Invited to Jessica’s 10th Birthday Bash! (The Tank), Hang’d Like a Dog (The New School), and several online play festivals. As a stage manager, they’ve worked with The 24 Hour Plays (The New Vic, Classic Stage Company, Town Hall); The Tank; The New School; The Players’ Theater; IRT; SheNYC. They were in the 2023 cohort of stage management fellows for The 24 Hour Plays Nationals.
Thoughts on Sidekick?
It’s difficult and taxing to be a theatermaker, and from the moment I met the Sidekicks in 2023, the work was a breath of fresh air to the waning artistic spirit in me, a healing experience I’m proud to be a part of as both a leader and a participant. Sidekick reminds me every day of why I and so many others chose this field for a career: for community and because art making is FUN. Being around people and doing work that is deeply funny doesn’t hurt either. In the times where we don’t know what’s coming next, where tragedy seems to strike nonstop, the productions and camaraderie of the Sidekick Troupe help you put your troubles aside for a little while and live in the present moment, and that’s a gift.
